Reginald “Reggie” Walter Freeman, 59, retired San Antonio Peace Officer, passed away peacefully in his home on January 7, 2023. He was born on September 21, 1963 to parents Elzie and Frances Freeman in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was one of eleven siblings, 6 brothers (Elzie Freeman Jr., Elmer Freeman, Timothy Freeman, Billy Freeman, Kenneth Freeman & James Freeman) and 4 sisters (Gladys Freeman Whitfield, Myrtle Freeman Garrett, Betty Freeman Scott, Asilah Yero).
He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1981 and completed his basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. He was honorably discharged on October 19, 1985.
Reggie started his career with the City of San Antonio Police Department on September 20, 1986. During his 34 years of dedicated service to SAPD, Officer Freeman exhibited daily dedication to the safety of the public and his fellow officers throughout his career.
Reggie was known for his larger-than-life personality and his infectious smile, and was considered a best friend to many. For those who were blessed to have known him, he was the steadfast rock that helped many navigate through life’s challenges. He leaves a legacy of love and unwavering support and eagerness to please. He was an incredible husband, father, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Reggie is survived by his wife of 22 years, Rosalia; step-son, Roberto Ramirez Jr (spouse Vanessa); daughter, Mariah Frances Freeman; son Remy Antonio Freeman; his three precious grandchildren and many loving siblings, aunts, uncles and friends.
