CMsgt Roger F. Handte, US Air Force Retired, resident of Universal City, Texas, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter in Dripping Springs, TX at the age of 76 on May 15, 2019.
CMsgt Handte was born on November 22, 1942 in Queens, New York to Fred and Ruth Handte. He grew up and lived in Hyattsville, MD. He graduated from Northwestern High School, was a volunteer firefighter and a member of the Civil Air Patrol before he joined the Air Force in 1962.
CMsgt Handte lived his life in service of others as he served 23 years in the Air Force, working in Missiles and Logistics, achieving the highest rank as a non-commissioned officer and he served as a volunteer for the Universal City Fire Department for 20+ years where he was an Engineer and served on the Board of Directors as Treasurer. After he retired from the Air Force he worked at the Commissary for a few years and then later he worked at the Post Office.
When he officially retired from everything, he enjoyed traveling to visit with friends and family. He really enjoyed being the designated dog & house sitter for his Grandsons so they could travel and attend important events. He also enjoyed being able to help with moves and caring for loved ones recovering from various health issues.
He is survived by his Daughter, Carla Power; his Daughter in law, Pam Handte; his Grandsons and their spouses, Bradley & Brittney Power, Brian Power, Whitney Power, Adam & Julie Power, Garrett Parsons, Gordon Handte; his three great-grandchildren, Clarke Power, Tyler Power and Alaina Power; his Brother Gordon C.
